Walk a Parade on Labor Day to Save Sligo Golf Course

We, the citizens trying to keep the course alive, want to make our cause known to the public and to the Montgomery County Council members. Come walk with us at the Kensington and Gaithersburg Labor Day Parades.

Kensington Parade from 10 – 11:30am

Meet @ 9am on Wheatley Street, Kensington.

Directions: from Georgia Ave, turn on Plyers Mill toward Kensington. Wheatley is past the big dip, crossing a creek as you approach Kensington’s St. Paul’s Park, which is the beginning of the Parade.

Park at 10605 Concord Street or the parking lot of Warner Memorial Presbytarian Church at 10123 Connecticut Ave (parking lot located across from church) and walk back to the Parade assembly at Wheatley Street and Plyers Mill Rd (near St. Paul’s Park).

We are a few groups prior to the Blair High School Marching Band. Look for beige Save Sligo t-shirts and green Save Sligo buttons.

Participants in the parade will receive lunch tickets at the end for a free hot dog given out at the Armory.

Then either enjoy the festival with your family or even better:

Hustle to Gaithersburg, so we can make our voice heard in Gaithersburg as well.

Meet @ 11:30 am in the Blue Zone at the Girard Business Center, near Girard Street and E Diamond Ave

We are unit number 33.

If you are only going to the G’burg Parade, it is recommended you park at Lakeforest Mall and take the shuttle before 10:45am over to the Blue Zone.

If you are coming from Kensington (probably around noon) closest parking to the line up area is Gaithersburg Middle School at 2 Teachers Way.

Directions:
I-270 North to Exit 11A, Rt 124 East. 4th light turn Right onto Midcounty Hwy, 1st light turn Right onto Goshen Road, 2nd light turn left onto Girard Street. Follow signs to Parade line-up. Gaithersburg Middle School is on your right at Teachers Way. Park and walk to the line up at the Blue Zone.

Bring your clubs or club bag, make a sign, buy a t-shirt (sold to parade participants under cost), wear a button. Make up a cheer, make a sign or a banner for the Parade car.
