Sligo Creek Golf Association is a supporting member of Citizens Against Beltway Expansion, a nonprofit coalition of civic associations, taxpayers, and other organizations demanding better, affordable commuter options for suburban Maryland. CABE opposes plans by Maryland officials to add privately-owned, for-profit toll lanes (aka Lexus Lanes) to I-495 and I-270 in Montgomery County.
State plans would threaten the continued existence of Sligo Creek Golf Course because they are adjacent to the golf course. CABE instead promotes a combination of operational road changes, affordable mass transit options, and other approaches focused on helping people travel more efficiently to and from home, work, shopping and recreation.
